I bought the charger with the iPod video and i've use it a couple of times. Only if you travel larger distances and use the iPod for several hours it can be useful. In my case the car charger was more useful than this one.

I got this charger for my G5 because it didn't come with an A/C charger and there are times when I want to charge it without using my PC or laptop. I had some iMotion speakers that also charges the iPod while docked but the problem is iPod doesn't fit into the connector with the case I have on the iPod. The case I have is rather difficult to remove and I'd rather not have to attempt to take it off everytime I want to charge the iPod via A/C. Hence my need for a charger like this.
Most of the stand alone adapters (Belkin A/C charger; Belkin car charger, etc. for instance) that my friends have fit the iPod even with its case on so I figured this one would too. However for some reason this charger had a rather large cover over the connector and it does not fit the iPod with the case still on, which rather defeated the purpose I got it for. The cover does easily comes off and you can just put some duct tape over the connector once you get it off and it fits the iPod with a case on that way, although it looks odd. But if you're willing to live with the weird look this charger get's the job done and the price is right. If you're not using a case or don't mind removing it every time you want to use this charger than this won't be an issue for you.
